one old fool i know, had around 3 seizures of goods and vehicles in the space of around 3 months, got the duty bills ect, ignored all correspondence, the debt collectors turned up at his house around 12 months later, had a look round and saw he had nothing of value to cover the costs and went away empty handed.

They cant take what you not got, and remember your not obliged to even answer the door or speak to bailiffs.

Just back from belguim via hull-zebrugge, took advantage of a 25% discounted mini cruise with car, total price inc dinner and breakfast on return £117, with a very spacious disabled room on red deck.

Check in simple and no probs with security.
We only travel on the pride of brugges and was peasantly suprised to see its had an upgrade, including outside painted.
Entertainment a little better but not worth paying over £4 a pint for in the bar,our usual seating area on blue deck has been transformed so we sat in bar,and sneaked a few cans in ,as you do when on a budget ha ha.

Landed in zebrugge on time, straight off and down to calais for our wine, the roadworks are virtually finished now near brugges so a straightforward drive.

The warehouse in calais we use had no echo falls,so had to go to pidou at dunkirk, saw a few migrants hanging around near the pidou in calais so avoided this area.
Stocked up with wine at dunkirk pidou after a wasted trip intpo calais.

Upto adinkirke for fuel and a bit of baccy, it was very quiet and shops empty, but the chippy across from real was open ha ha.

Headed back upto zebrugge for return, the road has changed slightly just past Brugge, and there is now a big flyover, with only a small sign for zebrugge were you turn off to the right so beware ,i nearly missed it,or you will end up over the flyover.

Check in straightforward again on return.

Back on board and time for tea in the Kitchen, food was alot better than previous trips we done, must be due to the upgrade or new chefs, but i would recomend it. Breakfast very good aswell.

Ferry again very quiet, not many of the usual foot passenger shoppers about .

Back in Hull on time, slight delay driving off, the PCP was not in the usual place near the terminal and seemed to be were cars check in on the outbound,

Lots of ukbf about before the pcp, looking in vans and trailers/pick ups, but didnt seem to bother any cars, i have never seen as many ukbf at the car pcp before, none that i

6) How many times have you travelled abroad in the past 12 months?
15

This is going to be your biggest hurdle ,convincing them you havent brought this amount on previous trips, and the question will be asked.' why not bring say a 1000 each trip'  instead of putting all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

hit the nail on the head there eezy, a yellow hi viz or uniform certainly does  seem like a passport to power for some.

There was a security on the ferry who tried it on with us once, told J to turn her phone off cos we were filming him, he started sprouting 'marine law' ha ha.

Hull check in security asked me to turn off my dashcams, so i told them i couldn't cos they were hardwired, they didnt push any further wheni asked why? just said its a secure area and no filming allowed, even though there are cameras everywere anyway ha ha

Just watching this program again, its an old one but quite interesting, one of the customs is a really arrogant bastard, but there are quite a few very polite and patcient ones, just goes to show the difference in attitudes towards passengers and how they vary.

I very much doubt this arrogant little hitler would get away with how he treats and talks to passengers nowadays with all the info available on how they should conduct them selves.

we used to get this a lot on the old hovercraft in dover,' lock ins' a bit more extreme in those days,  around 200 people trying to get through one small exit, why the customs picked the ones with the biggest bags out ha ha, everyone coming off the hovercraft had bags full of baccy ranging from 100 packs to 600 packs, so they just snatched the ones with the biggest bags in those days before the scanners ect.   Lots of travellers with over 100 packs would just dump their bags as they knew they would lose them anyway, then they would just get on the next hovercraft and go for more to try and cut their losses.

You could do upto 9 trips/flyers a day then on the hovercraft at £1 a trip, and some people reckon they could lose/have them seized 3 times out of 6 and still break even ha ha.

dont be put off by going to court, the £2500 costs is an intimidation figure, and works unfortunatly, even if you lose in magistrates ,you can then appeal to crown which is a lot easier, and the judge will usually not award the full £2500 costs, but will take it account your income ect,if you do lose.

But to be honest, someone who can afford to give so much tobbacco away as a gift,at over £5 a pack now, will need to convince a court of this.  If it was 5-10 packs now and again ,for birthdays/christmas ect then maybe.

Still worth going to court and appealing as your going to get hit with the excise duty and wrongdoing fine anyway, so even if losing at court it may only be a few hundred more in costs.

We used to use monarch for trips a few years ago, great service, free meals and even bottles of wine with your meal, and the flights were cheaper than easy jet then.

Just got this from a traveller just back off holiday in their camper.

Just come home on the ferry from Zeebrugge to Hull, a new road has just opened in Zeebrugge and a lot of people got lost. The old signs to the port have been removed and there are no new ones yet.
We use this service regularly so knew where to go but met people who had been driving around for an hour and half trying to get there.

each traveller who had goods seized, and received a seizure notice with their amount of goods needs to appeal, better if everyone in the party is prepared to appeal aswell.
