I got the distinct impression that, for whatever reason, Border Force were making life easy for themselves and us by working on the premise that it is hard to get more than , say, 1.5kg-2kg into one of Real's bags...even if you take all the chocolates out.

Really ????  The last time our lass and me went together we got 5kg each and they were in two black bags from bruges tobacco. IIRC they were similar from Martine's shop in Ostend as well. Real's bags must be smaller in comparison.

Whenever I go now I just get two boxes unopened. it's handy really coz Turner comes in 6kg boxes and two of them nicely cover a years supply and a handy xmas & b/day pressie for my cousin.

There may be some other replies soon but as Moldava is not a member of the EU, the goods will be classed as Duty-Free and therefore are limited to 200 cigs or one carton.

I can't really see you have any recourse but to accept what is coming to you as you have imported more than the allowed amount and you also didn't bring them in yourself.

As a working bloke on a non-huge salary, there is absolutely no way I could be persuaded to vote Tory at any time but...............Corbyn doesn't exactly inspire confidence, although he is a bit of a peculiarity amongst politicians in that he usually sticks to his guns and does impress me how relaxed he appears in various interviews.

I will have to think long and hard this general election as to who will get my vote. The only certainty is that it will not be the Tories.

I can't see you being wrong there JMK. Quite a few years ago I knew of a few people in Hull who used to load Transits up with Bacci & Booze. If they got stopped and the van seized, they just got another one and did it the next week. The money to be made was staggering with the amounts they brought across and they took any seizures as an unfortunate hit on their profits. I can't see it being any different now.

Yo_potsey, I've removed your number from your post. As Eezy suggested, it's not a good idea to post personal information up as this is an open forum. Eezy will be able to advise you via either PM's or the Forum gmail.

Eyup TBD, long time no hear  I have to agree with Eezy, being a biker mese'n, there's no way you can tell what the outcome will be in a bike accident. I've had a few slow speed ones in my crazy youth but always wore leathers which saved the old gravel rash. Me and our lass got took out by an "older" driver coz he didn't look before switching lanes and although that was only at about 20mph it caused nearly 2K's worth of damage to the bike and both our lass 'n' me had to have minor treatment for bad bruises. Then again, I've prolly done 100K miles or more on my bikes and never really had much in the way of incident.

Regarding your bacci run, take a copy of the FOI I managed to get about recording negative stops, it's helped in (I think) two of the court cases Eezy's won of late so if you don't get pulled, you can always ask them to make an official note in their notebook and have it to hand next trip.

Nice to hear from you again buddy.

Just had a quick gander Warrior, Turner is still the same price as when we went @ £5.70 so mebbe it's just the local Real brands ? The fags work out cheaper though mebbe that's because most people when they buy 1000 actually bring back 1000 instead of throwing 200 away at DePanne station

NoMo and Eezy have hit the nail on the head there ZK. I travel once a year and bring back 12Kg and a few fags for my Mam as a pressie. The couple of times I have been stopped, you can see their eyes bulging at the prospect of seizing a fair bit of bacci..........until I get out the sot, usage calcs, trip log, foi's if req'd etc etc. Then they are firmly on the back foot under the pressure of so much data to prove my goods are exactly that, FOR MY OWN USE.

Just make sure you are correctly tooled-up and don't let them bully you.

Great news mate. I think Eezy and SH are the only ones who deserve the thanks for all the time and effort they put in to this board. I just sit there and help out as and when I can with some of the more tedious stuff to allow them to concentrate on the cases.

WELL DONE

That's a good thing Eezy. After all, even though most people would like to think they can claim for food etc etc, the travelling and possible digs costs would be the most expensive.

Did the winners actually receive 100% of their claims do you know ?

Shelf life of tobacco as used by UKBA/HMRC/Border Force. lt used to be a major issue as they said shelf life was very short but they've since conceded that it isn't. Still worth a look and a copy just in case.
