N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Some of you may remember we wrote about our first trip in the minibus (http://nothing-2-declare.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/successful-baccy-trip.html). We had an obnoxious Border Force officer (4604) threaten us on the way out. Bobi, the club secretary, put in an official complaint. Here is their reply, which even a 'coffee machine' would be ashamed of.

Oh and Officer 4604 is a liar!

lncidentally, this same Complaints Officer sent me personally a reply on something else. ln it she stated and l quote 'officers can do as they see fit' !!! Don't think she'll like my reply when she reads it.  (grin)

Anyway, back to N2D Social Club complaint :-

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Oh, this is such a classic!

"all complaints are treated seriously"

"opportunity to learn and improve services"

"a complaints manager will CHECK THE PROCESS used to look into your complaint"
(The process is, "Read the complaint, ask the Officer's manager if it's true, and then believe him." It's always followed properly.)
(They don't check the complaint itself.)

"Border Force can stop travellers..."
(Under certain limited circumstances that is. But Complaints don't know the law stuff. They don't need to. In fact it's much easier that they don't.)

"unable to consider either the interpretation of the law or its application...or departmental policy"
FFS!

"the officer was conscious of a queue".
Good guess, but utterly untrue. We were booked in as disabled, and allowed through before everyone else. There was, remarkably, no queue. None.

"she requested you pull in behind the booth"
What? WTF?

"so she could fully answer any queries you had"
Queries WE had?
Er, at the risk of repeating myself, WTF'ing F?

"however, you...

Hahahahaheeheehee!

...declined."

Snork! Fnaar!

"The officer did not threaten to delay you."

Oh, I'm so glad that's cleared up! Nine of us imagined it! The Complaints Officer is assured by the Officer's Manager that it never happened!
How good it is to have solid facts.

I love this one! Oh, the irony! - "number was not visible...hi visibility vest"
Hoot!

"stressful conditions".
Ah, bless!

"I can find no evidence"
Really? You looked, then?
No? Sorry, silly question.

Unbelievable!

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Funny thing is I have a letter almost identical, YES almost word for word identical except for location, So it's a preprinted response that the UKBF investigate themselves and every time find themselves innocent of any wrongdoing. BUT TREAD CAREFULLY AND WITH THE UTMOST CAUTION, I got a tip-off today that the customs are watching me and fitting me up is not beyond the bounds of possability, put a locking cap on your mini bus fuel tank, the customs have been known to dump a gallon ot two of RED in a vehicle in the dead of night, then pull the vehicle the next day for a fuel test, if they find their own RED it's goodbye Mini bus. And canceling all further N2D trips, Be afraid, Be aware, Be careful.

We don't do 'be afraid' George but however we are careful. l've already been the victim of an attempted 'fit-up' by a then UKBA Officer at Luton. He put in his notes the wrong cigarette l smoke, the wrong amount l brought back and the wrong brand  ... 1 min after l left. Thankfully it failed because of an SAR.

No, we won't cancel any trips and neither will the Social Club. Even though the Complaints Team are not fit for purpose ... every reply from them goes into our database and our history. We are, in fact, made stronger by these complaint replies ... not weaker.

As Omar in The Wire used to say "It's all in the game"

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Was there voice recordings of the interaction with 4604? If so maybe it's time to go viral with any recordings, No point in sending it to the complaints numpties in Dover, LET THE WORLD BE THE JUDGE,

EXCELLENT bit of kit on offer this month from MAPLIN,  Road view camera audio recorder which could be mistaken for a Sat-Nav and fully turnable through 180° Records on SD card supplied, Sucks to windscreen and powered by rechargable  ni-cads or from accessory 12v socket.
I never leave home without it.

Alas George we failed at that. We never expected to get into a confrontation BEFORE we left. Live and learn as they say ... and we have learned, so now we'll record on the way out too. However we have a total of 9 witnesses to the incident  (grin). l'm sure N2D's secretary will make the most of that. We shall continue with the Complaints Team too ... they are now in a hole. Will they keep digging? ... we shall see! Other avenues are also now open. Interesting times!

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

I like to know why they get away with lying, they appear to be immune from prosecution, well, they don`t appear to be worried about it,

I do believe that UKBA fall into the category of public office!

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

I never thought for a minute you boys showed FEAR,
I watched the video you made, But some of these customs are vindictive rogues, worse criminals than the most vile of criminals, at least they commit crime for gain, these customs goonies hide behind Public Office and commit crime for spite and LIE because they can without fear of detection,
The cops will take their side, because Government and the Parliamenterians dictate they must.
The Great British gutter press are running scared, and reluctant to make waves. I am isolated regarding this Politically motivated prosecution, apart from some interest from Ireland, the UK press are distancing themselves, FREE PRESS MY ARSE, They have been nobbled, Government advertising is a handsom earner.

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Some of us have got evidence of them lying, MP`s get nobbled when they put a foot wrong, so do the police, we need enough of us to make big enough waves to get people listening!
The IPCC won`t investigate them unless someone dies through their neglect!

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

What is happening here is that everyone who ever complains to the UKBF complaints team is being branded a LIAR, Not just one or two but every member of the public are LIARS and every one of UKBF employees are truthfull, That is imposable, A COMPLAINER HAS LITTLE OR NOTHING TO GAIN PERSONALLY BY COMPLAINING AND BEING TRUTHFUL--- BUT A ROGUE CUSTOMS EMPLOYEE HAS EVERYTHING TO LOSE BY BEING TRUTHFUL..
I suggest we all publish the rejection of complaint letters on the internet, Let the World be the judge, Because every letter rejecting a complaint is punctuated with the same words and phrases. Will it make the UKBF take complaint serously?
PROBABLY NOT BUT IT MAY MAKE LAWMAKERS TAKE NOTE OF WHAT'S GOING ON

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Ive got decision letters from UKBA and the Ombudsman, Ive had 2 "investigators" from the Ombudsmans Office look at my complaints and both times they found in their favour even though Ive got 100% evidence of the UKBA officer lying.
The way I see the function of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman, is not to put right the government office or agency that has done wrong, but to join forces with them against us, THIS HAS GOT TO STOP, one person cannot fight them alone, it will need a lot of us and someone within who is prepared to make the waves!

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

I find myself wondering if UKBF are admitting to breaking ID Regulations (not sure if it is a legal thing) when they state that the officers pass was not visible as she was wearing a hi-vis, if regulations for displaying Passes are the same as in an Airport then the pass must be displayed at all times, if you are wearing a hi-vis then the pass should be on the outside. Gatwick Airport ID regulations are on line unfortunately as a newbie I can't link to it, it is not where I work but regulations are very similar.

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Certainly looks the same thing Warrior. I use Maplin because i like to have the article in my hand when I pay for it, 30 day refund and no quibble guarantee plus the money off vouchers. If these things stop working they are throw away jobs, Maplin will guarantee they work for a year at least, E-Bay??
I registered but have never had confidence to buy anything yet.
MAYBE CHECK OUT A BLOW UP DOLL FOR A WINTER WARMER. WILL I GET ONE INTO  JAIL WHEN THE CUSTOMS GET THEIR REVENGE. (happy)

Re: N2D Social Club's complaint to Border Force re our first trip

Looking at the UKBF complaints procedure I see you can put in a complaint even if you are not personally the "victim", ie if you witness a UKBF officer acting improperly towards somebody else.

On the basis of that and should the minibus be targeted again, would it be worthwhile if all occupants who witnessed the behaviour put in a complaint-if only to bog-up the system?

Be interesting to see if the complaints were individually answered.
