Portsmouth today

We came back through Portsmouth today after a sh***y crossing on the fast craft-the ''vomit comet''.

To say I was not in good humour would be an understatement. The delayed crossing was only part of it.
Rolled off the boat and joined the queues and just like our last trip at Hull we were stopped and checked before the PCP. As far as I could see every car was being stopped and asked to open the boot.
So:-
BF where have you been
France for a week's holiday
BF How many cigarettes have you got
None
BF How many cigar(illos) have you got (I was smoking one)
500
BF What about HRT
1kgs
BF 1kgs, are you aware of your allowances, it's 1 kg
Yes I am aware of your guidelines
BF Where did you get it from
Belgium
BF Belgium, it's duty free then
What
BF If you got it from Belgium it's duty free. (It took an awful lot of willpower not to explode at this point)
Of course it's not duty free, it's duty paid.
BF Has it got the duty stamps on it, where did you buy it.
Of course it's got the duty stamps on it, I bought it in a shop. Do you want to see the receipt, It's here if you want.
BF Have you ever been stopped by customs before
Yes several times.
BF Had any goods seized
Never
BF Well bear in mind in future customs will take an interest If you have more than 1kg.

At that point my patience was exhausted, I got in the car and drove up to the passport kiosk.

WTF are BF employing? A blonde haired bimbo who couldn't charm a cat out of a tree and who doesn't even know where Belgium is or that it is in the EU.

If there are any BF senior staff looking in get a grip on your frontline officers before they make a laughing stock of you all!

Re: Portsmouth today

BfF could sometimes test the patience of a saint with their inane questioning. One has to wonder of the standard of education of some of these officers. You obviously encountered such this time round. You should have asked for the 'coffee machine' http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png
The questioning would've been the same but atleast you would have had the chance of a coffee!

When cross-border shopping, take your Statement of Truth etc and ALWAYS record the Border Force interviews and NEVER EVER sign their notebook ... Period!

Re: Portsmouth today

If she'd caught me on a good day I would have played it out and had a bit of fun but today was not the best, just wanted to get home.
Bear in mind while this comic saga was going on I was holding up the queue to the passport control.

She totally ignored the 18 ltrs of spirits etc I had. Just confirms the view they are after HRT and cigs.

Ah well that's another stopped/checked/no action taken to add to the trip log.

Re: Portsmouth today

Yes, l know exactly how you felt. l've been there a few times on our trips. l've been mentally exhausted explaining and educating the virgin shoppers ... and in no mood to begin explaining CEMA to BF officers!

l would've liked to have asked this officer of yours "Tell me, is this the PCP or the SCP?" http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

One couldn't fail to have noticed that when cigs/hrt guidelines were reduced on 1st Oct 2011 that booze allowances remained same.

Obviously guidelines created by a piss head http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/wink.png
