Re: Price Rise

Prices seem to be all over the place at the minute

The majority of branded cigs seem to be cheaper in euros than sterling. Real have just knocked 25p per 20 off my usual brand of mini cigars making them a lot cheaper than cigarettes.

According to the official Spanish Gov website, GV is about 8€80 but cigarettes are cheaper than Belgium. If I remember correctly, Portugal's prices are slightly higher yet I know somebody who is paying 7quid a pouch for GV with Portugal markings. The same person is buying (I think) Pall Mall cigs with English markings for £28 per sleeve.

Are they fake, knocked off or what? I dunno, don't care 'cos I don't buy 'em. With those sorts of prices though even buying at Belgian prices, it must be getting hard for the smugglers to make a living. It's almost worth considering how this can be used in our defence at interview. Up to now though it's always been the wrong thing to mention the black market at interview but maybe it's something we need to debate.

Please ensure you do not divulge any information which could identify you as Border Force will use your posts here as evidence against you in court.
