Delayed at Coquelles

Went over to Adinkerke yesterday. On the journey back to Coquelles there was a lot of illegal immigrants hanging around the roads leading to the tunnel. I thought our Border Force would have been busy keeping an eye on this situation, but when we arrived at passport control they were out in force. Again I travelled by coach and we were told to take our tobacco products with us. They didn't stop everybody and I  did go straight through. About 10 people from the coach were interviewed and 2 had their tobacco seized. I directed them to this site for information on appealing the seizures. Delayed for about 2 hours but eventually arrived home at a reasonable time.

Re: Delayed at Coquelles

Well done on getting your goods home.

Sounds like the illegals are spreading out. They're normally concentrated along ''diesel alley'' near the port.

Hope all goes well. I pity anybody stuck at the ports in this heat.

Re: Delayed at Coquelles

Minor problems last Wednesday heading for hotel at Ashford on M20.

Thought we'd get off at Jn8 where stack started but blocked just past Jn7. Closed motorway just after we'd gone through so, along with a few other cars, we reversed back until copper told us to do a u turn then drive slowly back down fast lane until we reached junction where scond copper got us off motorway.

Joined A20 at Maidstone, and had quiet journey to Jn9 past stack. Took about 45 minutes longer than usual.

Thursday we had to use A20 from Ashford until junction before tunnel. Caught train hour before booking.

Yesterday went from Normandy to Adinkerke and back to Coquelles. Arrived early but had to wait until train we were actually booked on as terminal very busy.

No questions at customs - we had usual 4200 Sterling and 2Kg GV

Again stayed overnight at Ashford and back home this morning.

Bearing in mind what's been happening we were very lucky

Re: Delayed at Coquelles

Glad your journey wasn't too bad Nadger. Like you said, considering everything going on at the moment, you were lucky.
