Case won: 12,5 Kg of HRT

I managed to convince the three magistrates in Dover that I was indeed giving 12,5kg of tobacco to my family members.

I will get the money back.

No costs

I think I should have pushed for the costs involved (I had to travel and stay over night in Dover).
Over all though, I was rather happy that I defended myself and won.

The (on the whole friendly) prosecuting lawyer and the (lovely) clerk showed me the full list of what I would have to pay if I lost while the Magistrates were deliberating. I managed to stay cool, but 2,200 on top of the 1,400 quids worth of baccy I had lost would have financially destroyed me.

So, over all, I'm happy.

I would take a solicitor next time though.

Fantastic result!!!

All the more so because you won at Dover and with that amount of baccy.

Did the mags issue a s144 certificate? If not you are free to pursue BF for travel costs etc
