Quiet trip!

Roadblocks on the A16 border as have been reported recently appear to have been lifted. In fact I thought how quiet the m/way and roads in general were.

Some good Christmas deals in Pidou and an exchange rate of €1-50 to the pound until 24th Dec. Notice up there states that while they can continue to take English notes it will be illegal to use English coins so change will be in euros (From Jan 1st). In my experience change is always in euros anyway.

Those that have read my posts will know I have no particular passion for P&O. Well I've even less now. On entering the cabin bathroom we were met with an overpowering stench of fresh sewage. Not only our cabin but warriors also and I suspect many others. Apparently Mrs warrior spent some time playing a happy game of ''hunt the turd'' determined that one had been hidden in her bathroom!

Apart from that prices on board we reckon are up about 20% on our last trip. Four quid for a bottle of cider, cigs over the bar £4-19 and the ''world famous Kitchen restaurant'' now charges £21 each for dinner, 10% discount if you prebook. We stocked up at the supermarket with bread, cheese, ham etc . However we stopped off at our favourite services on the way back to the boat and had 2 mighty beefburger meals for a tenner each, drinks included.

Boat seemed quite busy. Usual questions at PCP, how long away, where to, what did you buy and then waved on.

Only other downside for us was a broken bottle of spirits in one case. Not our doing so will open the boxes and check in future.

Same on the last journey from Calais to Dover.  After leaving the car deck we walked up the stairs and out by the duty free shop where there was the same "eau du turd".

It's evidently something to do with the onboard waste systems.  Should get it sorted.

Re: Quiet trip!

had a quite pleasant trip, security check on the way out,i had 2 cctv dvr cameras running, the security woman was quite suprised we had one in the back of vehicle aswell as the front and it was running why she searched car ha ha.

slightly late docking in zeebrugge and delays going through controls as the immigration were not there!

wanted to visit ypres again but didn't really have time,so went to a small village called bourbourg'' to look at a historic prison, but couldn't find it ha ha.also got there just in time as the last van was loading after the market.

plenty good offers in pidou,i had downloaded a £20 off voucher and printed it,handed it to the cashier but then was informed it was from 2014,ah well worth a try i suppose.

got my wine from pidou £1.50 a case cheaper than my normal supplier in calais, plus a free case of 6 ,got my beer 80p a case cheaper aswell,so saved quite a bit ,not sure if it was because their offer of 1.50-£ but i saved quite a bit by shopping there.

had an evening meal in the buffet resturant, the food has definetly improved quite a lot since early in the year, also breakfast this morning was ok aswell.

probably the quickest off the boat in hull so far, rolled upto pcp,as eezy says, usual questions, we had stocked up a bit more than normal as we will have a month off now after christmas,so got enough to last till mid feb,but no probs and passports scanned ok.

M62 was a nightmare, a wagon fire on the eastbound near leeds completly shut the motorway, luckily west bound opened by time we got there, but very slow.

Good trip apart from the smelly cabins ha ha.

Merry christmas everyone and a happy new year.

Re: Quiet trip!

Ah right, that's possibly why our toilet wasn't flushing in October... Vacuum leak somewhere. Also strong smell of fuel for a while which we have never had before. Was it the PRIDE of York ?

Re: Quiet trip!

Not pride of York,we wont use that vessel anymore, arrogant staff and the food is deadfull on that boat, the security are a joke,i actually videoed one of them 'DONNY' his name, a proper tool,he tried to take my partners phone to stop her videoing him and even struck me with his notebook ha ha,all on video aswell.

But apart from him being a tool, we find all the crew wankers and lazy bastartds compared to the crew on the pride of brugges.
