Borrow to Save calculator.

I kept reading on the forum about how people on benefits were being told they could not afford what they had bought, and stuff about proving your income and so on.  Which is fine if you happen to be in a position where you can easily show a nice income.  But if you can not, then you will be asked to prove how you can save money by borrowing from an overdraft facility etc.

This just really niggled me, I hate the fact UKBF seem to expect folks to be able to work out intricate sums showing what should be obvious anyway.  But as the calculation can be quite head blowing, I present you with a beta version of a calculator I have made which attempts to solve this problem.

Do not use this calc to work out your consumption, there is a better calc for that and you should use that one before using this one.  Not least because this one might not work properly yet.

If you wish to take the calc for a test drive, and or help tweek and improve it, feel free.

The better version is linked in post #16 here...

Re: Borrow to Save calculator.

Thanks for your efforts NoMo. It all helps.

Of course even if a person admits to being on benefit the question does not take account of capital savings or the amount available on a credit card which bypasses the question anyway.

Also somewhere on the forum there is a simple loan agreement. I think it is based on a promissory note, friend to friend.

My experience with ''Tiny'' is that it will only stay up a few days before it is removed.

The last time I used it was to put up a recording of a BF stop at Hull. It was gone within a couple of weeks. That said it is probably no better or worse than any of the others used on here which are causing us problems at the minute as we try to search out broken links and retrieve valuable info.

Currently we are trying to move valuable info to googledocs as a best alternative. Hopefully if we get a portfolio together we can have them all in a new forum subheading.

Re: Borrow to Save calculator.

mmm, Tiny's are not supposed to expire.  The only reason I used it btw is because of the mega.nz full url being a bit difficult to post (it has an encryption key slapped on the end of it).

I did not want to put it on my own googledocs because it sort of points back to my email, but if you have one that does not point to anything important then please feel free to post it there as I agree google docs is far more suitable for spreadsheets.

''Q: How long are images kept?

A: The images are kept until they have not been viewed for 90 days. After 90 days have elapsed, your image may be removed''

Also if they are considered to use up too much bandwidth they will be removed - maybe that's why my recording was removed.

Re: Borrow to Save calculator.

Ah yea tinypic does that.  Tinyurl is a different company as far as I know and is really just shortens the url to something a bit more manageable. Nothing is hosted there, it just points the web browser to the file on the mega.nz site and gets round the encryption tag being too ugly for forum links ect.

A lot of hosting sites have strange search robots that scour the web for any public links back to them (mainly on sites that link to dodgy files),  those robots then sometimes automatically delete things that they find assuming it to be some sort of copyright infringment.  Can be quite amusing when you get a copyright infringment on a home movie.

No problems Nomo, as soon as you updated the link I copied the file to my pc to make sure it didn't disappear again. http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/happy.png
Once we're sorted with rearranging the site, we're going to put all the downloads into one locked thread.

Cheers

Re: Borrow to Save calculator.

When it is done PM me and I will lock em all up on the mega.nz account if you wish.  Never hurts to have spare spares.

Yep I see, you are more knowledgeable than me

Doubt that somehow, I just got lucky like the slumdog kid.
