Less calls for help....

There seems to be less requests for help these days. Is that because there are less seizures, or the message is getting across or maybe those that are in trouble are researching what is on the forum and dealing with their own proceedings? ( there were 70 odd guests on the forum the other day). Certainly there is enough info on the forum now to write a book.

Whatever the reason we need to keep posting our own run-ins with BF so we can keep abreast of things. BF are always moving the goalposts. And to any guests that the forum may have helped, please let us know.

Re: Less calls for help....

Home Office (Border Force) barrister - Mr. Tapsell - told us yesterday when we were at Dover Magistrates that last week he had 4 Condemnation hearings at that court of which 1 was succsessful for the claimants and also 1 appeal that week at Maidstone Court.

That does not sound like a lot to me?

(Comdemnation hearings only heard on Thursday each week at Dover)

Re: Less calls for help....

I'm not sure if people are getting the message on how to behave or not.
I have told many people about my plight with our friends at the border, and they all seem very surprised at how border force treat the public by not only confiscating goods, but seizures of vehicles as well.
I dont think that the general public realise about the behaviour of UKBA, and the underhand tatics they use.
Problem is we are smokers, and the general public opinion on us is not the best.

It's been mentioned before - people can be travelling a lifetime and never get pulled. When they do get pulled their perception of customs' changes.

Unfortunately this makes getting the message across very difficult. Hence the reason most visitors to the forum have already been pulled by the time they get here.

Very true.

58 years of coming back through customs - never lost anything but three years ago a boy dressed in a uniform really annoyed me with his " I can do what I like atitude" at Coquelles.

SWMBO and I sat around for 30 minutes while they supposedly checked that travel info we'd given them was true.

During that time no other vehicle was stopped and 5 people just stood round chatting.

Going on line to do some checking I found the original N2D blog.

Re: Less calls for help....

I'ts very true, why would anyone have any reason to even look for a site like this unless they needed it.
I myself never even knew of the existence of this forum until those lovely people put me in a position where i needed to seek advice.
Not sure how the message could be put across to everybody apart from standing on the docks and tunnel crossing telling all to be aware of the evil ahead of them.
As with most things, i have learned by my mistakes.

we tried giving out flyers ,but people just looked at us as though we were scare mongering.

i stepped in once when ukbf were questioning a couple to advise them of their rights, then found out the guy had been convicted of smuggling using his own aircraft ha ha.
