Sounds like an adventure Shaky http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/happy.png

If I smoked HRT it wouldn't be worth the trip. They tell me white van man sells it for 7 quid a pouch round here. Don't know what it is mind but I've seen it in GV packets.

I say that 'tongue-in-cheek' by the way!

Wouldnt've guessed eezy http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/happy.png

I think the current average white van man cost round here is about a tenner (Turner in Adinkerke is currently £3.90 ) but I won't buy it from them coz even though I smoke Samson or Turner, I worry about the counterfeit trade. It's bad enough that I smoke, let alone risk smoking all manner of shite mixed-in to a small amount of bacci, if any at all. http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/confused.png

Sorry I missed you on the last bus-trip btw, I came out of the bar and saw SH chatting to a couple of blokes near the side entrance so I thought it would be rude to butt-in just in case he was "talking shop" so to speak. Didn't realise it was yourself, (and warrior I believe ?) I wasn't been ignorant. http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/cute.png

Anyway, I was thinking about the sar cost and I thought "two can play at that game" so my latest SOT reads as follows, with the changes in red :-I shall record any interview by Border Force in full (see attached FOI ref 19924, 9th March 2012) and Border Force may have a copy if so requested upon payment of a fee to cover my administration costs.http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

No problem, next time maybe.

Good idea on the copy. Or do what warrior said last time we were stopped - give us your email and I'll send you the YouTube link http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

I remember that post. Would be good if i was videoing but I'm too tight for that, so I just use the Sony.

I was toying with going across in the van but the only problem with that is remembering NOT to drink copious amounts of pop.......................No chance of that, especially with me going across with my lad http://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons/grin.png

. Still got my freebie beer-barrow that I got on a previous trip years ago when P&O where doing an offer on John Smiths. Buy 3 cases, got a fourth for free and all packed-up in cling-film on a cheapo barrow. One fell to bits half-way down the gang-plank (the one my dad was towing!) but the other one appears to have lasted OK so i will use that to transport the bacci, chcoccies, biscuits etc etc.

Re: AT LAST !!!!! I get some time to Shop

Well, pretty uneventful trip really, no goonies at disembark so was straight off the ship by 9am. I had just spent about half an hour typing up a report and lost all the text so sorry if this is brief - lol.

Most important thing to mention was at Real In Adinkerke, was told that as Turner was not UK bacci, I could take my 12Kg from them in the cardboard packing boxes they come in. When asked what they were on about, I was told any UK bacci products cannot be sold as they receive them, they have to be taken out and sold in either the 10-pack bags or individually....I had 240 pouches so you can imagine how relieved I was when they said OK to the two 6KG boxes !!.

Gave my steplad a few giggles as I walked nonchalantly off the boat, recorder on and paperwork at the ready, carrying about 8Kg of choccies and biccies in a big blue holdall with this being dragged behind me :-

Re: AT LAST !!!!! I get some time to Shop

It was disappointing to see the boat so empty Garry. It was like a bloody ghost-ship compared to what I'm used to when I go over during the 241 periods. I asked one of the guys on the bar and he said 500 passengers only !!

While I remember, I will mention that the push towards getting people to buy drinks on board has got beyond a joke. Whilst OK not necessarily alcohol, when we got to our table for dinner, there was a bottle of mineral water there. It was STILL there after we got our starters and was only removed a couple of minutes later when one of the waiters came across and asked "You don't want the water sirs ?"

That is well out of order if you ask me. I know the score as I've been across a few times but noobs could possibly think "Ah a bottle of mineral water, how nice", open the bottle, start to drink it and then be informed that it isn't free !

Duty-free bacci onboard usual ridiculous prices. I think £60 for Amber Leaf and £70 for GV. The only other brand I saw was Drum but I couldn't see the price as the shop was closed when I went past.

Re: AT LAST !!!!! I get some time to Shop

Good trip then shaky. How did the logistics go with the train etc?

P&O are engineering their own demise. Starting with their first point of contact - the website. We used to be able to book a round trip via Dover and back to Hull, charged as a daytrip, but not now. If you go to Ferrysavers or Direct Ferries you can still do it but how many people know that. Fares are increasing at a rapid rate. In the meantime the cruise experience is diminishing. The ships are starting to show signs of wear and tear, the staff on the P of Y are miserable and the food selection is poor for the money. At Hull the security staff in the car sheds are arrogant and ignorant although to be fair since I complained to P&O chief exec we've not been stopped since.

Our trip on the tunnel last week was a refreshing change and much time saved with the crossing. Problem is it's only 60 miles further for us than Hull but the roadtrip can be horrendous.

I can see Hull/Zee ending up with just freight and bus trips.

The train worked out pretty well 100% perfect eezy. If it hadn't been for some late arrivals off the boat on the way out, we could have made the 10:05 train to DePanne. The coach drops off and picks up at the Katelijn Coach stop now, not outsiide the station, so what with the late arrivals and the 5 minute walk to the Station, we wouldn't have been able to make it, so we elected not to get stressed and sweaty and sat in the station cafe for three quarters of an hour and got the 11:05 train.

We had to change at Lichtervelde but you get a generous 7 minute time difference, so no panicking there. When we got off at DePanne, it was only a 15 minute leisurely walk across the river to Real. They didn't have many choccies/biscuits to choose from unfortunately, so we just got my bacci, papers and filters and set off straight back to catch the return train. We got back with 10 mins to spare but the train was already waiting in the station, with the driver catching a crafty fag before his departure was due ! Deffo wouldn't see THAT in the UK - lol.

We ended up getting just over three hours in Brugge for my lad to get some bacci as a pressie for his father in law and me my choccies. We didn't get enough time for me to get the biccies I wanted because we spent too much time in a pub......did I mention I love Jupiler - lol.

I agree with you about P&O eezy, it really does seem that they're trying to self-destruct. I reckon the next thing will be the sharing of the two bigger boats from the Rotterdam crossing over both routes and half the sailings.
