How secure is Paypal?

Whenever I use PayPal, within a couple of hours I get a phishing email trying to scam my login details.

How can this be? A quick google search blames keystroke hackers (?) as the most likely cause. Well in my case that cannot be because if I buy off ebay my PP account is linked. So I don't have to login so nobody can copy my keyboard actions. How is this happening then?

It's probably not too difficult to pick up my email from somewhere, that I've been using for nearly 20 years. It's bound to have popped up in the public domain somewhere but how can that be linked to my named  PP?

In the last month I've changed my anti-virus etc 3 times and none of them have picked up any threats. I'm puzzled rather than feeling threatened.

Re: How secure is Paypal?

Did you report it to PP? I use PP quite often on different websites and I don't get phishing emails, They do come time to time but I would say Its rare.

Re: How secure is Paypal?

No I have not reported. I tend to think PP is all automated and unlikely to respond personally. Maybe I'm wrong.

The other thing is you've got to open the email really to check content to forward it. I just hover over the sender and it's some obscure address, different everytime.

Re: How secure is Paypal?

As far as I remember I used to forward the scam emails to PP. At least They know Whats going on, in case If there was something wrong with my money They Could't say They did't know about it.

Re: How secure is Paypal?

I've added PP scams to my contacts so next time I get one I'll report it. Thanks Piotrek
