If we see the return of Duty Free, we'll also see an increase of family members and friends bringing Duty Free cigs/tobacco for their smoking relatives/friends. Although technically illegal, people just don't see it that way. One wonders how BF will deal with this? Are they going to interview someone who has 200 Duty Free cigarettes???

I was discussing this a while back with someone from Trading Standards. The Black Market is massive in the UK and Brexit will only enhance it. Remember, what the Black Market is doing now is already illegal. Many sales come from the convenience stores run by legal immigrants and although some get raided there's no diminishing of sales. Some are very smart and do not have stock on the premises which, in effect, puts any chance of prosecution down to virtually zero.

Also, there are factories in UK making cigarettes and market them at around £3 a pack l'm told. Tobacco 50g packs are made too. Forget the scare stories about rat droppings etc etc, the factories make the cigarettes etc from the same leaf as the big manufacturers.

BF dont seem to do anything about except seize a shipment every now and then. Recently 22 tonnes of raw leaf tobacco was seized in Hull. Did they track where it was going? No, they just seized it. Duh??? The Black Market know they will lose shipments every now and then but these losses are taken into account when pricing their products.

To be honest, the governments (Con & Lab) have created this illegal industry and everything government does seems to be for the benefit of the Black Market. Its almost as though they are in partnership with them.

Is someone playing silly buggers at BF? The Government website says a passport, driving licence (photo). biometric residency card, travel document or national identity card are valid. If you DON'T have these, THEN a recent photo is required and validated by the usual suspects. WTF?

Link   I really don't think that is any surprise given the extortionate prices in the UK. The survey gets the results from legal purchases abroad and the black market. No wonder BF target legitimate shoppers because they sure as hell are doing little about the black market. BF have been quoted as 'not being fit for purpose' and l can't disagree with that.

You fight Border Force Eezy ... thats good enough for me. Being single may be easier but that doesn't stop people who aren't ... certainly not me anyway. Re the Referendum ... all the people l know who voted 'out' did so to claim our sovereignty back. Believe when a trade deal comes together with the EU it'll be no different as to what we have now.

One has to wonder what has become of the British Bulldog spirit? When the 'Troubles' were on, we carried on living our way of life as usual despite a very real threat ... not the bogeyman under the bed threats of today. l did business in Northern Ireland too at that time. Took a British registered transit van all over North and South of Ireland. Averaged a minimum of 2 ferry trips per week there from mainland UK. Went to many of the supposed no-go areas (as reported by British media), stayed over and went out on the night to the pubs ... regardless of it being Provo, IRA etc etc. If you start changing your way of life then the terrorist bastards have won. Sure, there has been some attacks but there are attacks ALL OVER the world daily. The world has never been a safe place. F**K the terrorists!

Interesting thread. The only time it was referred to as a smugglers forum was in court with one of our cases. The prosecuting barrister brought it up and we destroyed the very idea of it being a smugglers forum. The bench dismissed it entirely. We won the case.

Also we've personally had our run-ins with the Treasury Solicitors. Even they accept it is not a smugglers forum. Mind, they still hate us BUT they've never told us to remove content because it was false ... even they dare not do that.

Being free and open in my mind has always been the best policy. Being pay for view would open it being criticised as for profit. That no-one can accuse the forum of that speaks volumes for its integrity.

Sure Border Force can read it but the forum educates them too ... not all cross border shoppers are sheep to the slaughter. I'd like to think it makes some BF Officers a little more considerate when dealing with them.

Its regrettable that the BF that were on here got a lot of negativity from members but they reap what they sow. Maybe not all 'sow' it but they know their fellow officers do and yet keep quiet. Remaining silent makes them just as culpable in my eyes and so they have to expect consequences for their actions. If they were totally honest then l'm certain they'd get more favourable reactions from members. Alas, don't hold your breath.

How you all doing? Nice to see Admins are doing such a fine job. Listened to Eezy's latest recording ... and damn l have to say l miss that! I still travel vert frequently abroad for my cigs and other reasons but haven't been stopped in over 3 years now. What l do get at the airport (l invariably travel from same one unless going Stateside) is "Hello Mr *******, how was your trip?" or something similar... and they say this before they get my passport!. Still a bit disconcerting that they know me by name However, they leave me alone

Stay safe now

Glad to see you guys are ok. l was saddened to see the same old bullshit in operation with Border Force. Seven and a half hours of time wasting! A total waste of public money. l did confront them on why they wouldnt use recording facilities on these  interviews but got the same ole bullshit ... it's Civil. Bah!

They did admit though it was not their decision to use pen and paper in the 21st Century. Orders to this effect had come from Senior Management. l'm surprised they hadn't issued orders to record the interviews by carving them in stone!

Despite Zaphod recording and having an SOT, he still had to endure this mind numbing archaic crap.
An example :-

BF .... How many cigarettes do you smoke a day?
Z .... About 60
BF ... How many do you smoke at work?
Z .... Don't know, don't count them.
BF ... How many do you smoke at home?
Z ... 60 minus 'l dont know'

FFS! They even asked him if he smoked despite him having 2 smoke breaks in their presence!

To me, the whole thing was just to mess Zaphod about. Petty!    Why they left me out is beyond me. l had Excise goods and they knew l did. l wont say how many, simply because l refuse to give any info to any BF reading this.

Zaphod would like to write up the whole thing but doesnt have the time. We are both busy on other things albeit not the same things. Also when l spent a few months in Arizona l got my apetite back for being a biker so now l'm a biker again back in UK. Been to Arizona 3 times at my mates ranch ... he's got loads of boys toys. Tourers, custom Harley, dirt bikes, quads ... l have a ball

l will do a couple of PO 2 for 1's just for the hell of it ....so maybe see you there?

See ya around y'all

Been a while ain't it?  Eezyrider and the lads have looked after the forum whilst we've been AWOL. Many thanks to them for a great job.

l do a great deal of travelling now and on the odd occassion Zaphod travels with me. About 3 weeks ago, this was one of those times. We arrived at Doncaster and whilst going through passport control l saw a BF Officer that l see quite regularly. We exchanged the usual pleasantries and then went to carousel to get our luggage. The place was quite full of BF. My case was first, first that is as in before Zaphod ... our cases were amongst the last through so l was quite certain they'd been through x-ray machine. l told Zaphod that l was leaving as l wanted a ciggie.

As l set off l could see 2 female BF about 20yds in front of me near the exits. As l approached, the dark haired one (Michelle) disappeared at speed through a side door (bless, she can move at speed). l know this door leads to the internal Sked Shed so l fully expected to see her at the final exit. l couldn't help but laugh to myself and was still laughing as l passed the remaining BF. Sure enough, there was our Michelle waiting to ambush me.

She asked me if l was travelling alone, to which l answered 'no' and then she invited me into the 'Sked Shed'. l didn't say anything but just leant up against the wall and smiled. With that Zaphod arrived and she ambushed him too. A couple of more BF arrived and all their attention was on Zaphod as he began his usual performance ... l remained the audience.

With that, a senior BF turned up, looked at me and then said l can go. l said 'Really?' and he said 'Yes'. l asked Zaphod if he wanted me to stay but as l expected he said it was not necessary. l knew it was going to be a while till Zaphod got out so l went to the airport hotel and got myself a meal and drink.

4 and half hours later, Zaphod came out and his cigs were detained pending a further interview in Hull. He had 100 sleeves (20,000 cigarettes). A week later we went to

at Thiefrow, they now resemble the Hounslow branch of the Waffen SS".

Having myself seen it ... l have to agree
