Houston we have a problem!

Down at mission control, manned by your admin team, we have our work cut out keeping spammers from joining the forum. The way we do that is by checking a user's IP address to verify new members are UK resident and not from Ukraine, Russia, eastern Europe, Canada, USA etc (and I can assure you that is the only time your IP address is checked). Spammers have even become so prolific that the clue is in their included email address eg spammer21@outlook.com or ********@xyzpharmaceuticals.ca.

Any way we can no longer identify genuine people from spammers because our Forum hosts are no longer supplying a full IP address. The numbers now include 'x' s in the IP. This not only applies to new requests but all existing members no longer display a full IP address. I'm guessing it is something to do with the new DP rules.

Any techies out there know how we can stop spammers but let genuine people in? If this is how it's going to be, expect the forum to be awash with spam otherwise Admin are going to be flat out with deleting it.

Re: Houston we have a problem!

I've emailed the hosts to see if they have any options available Eezy. Worth a try as it can't just be us having this problem.
